‘Celebrating Cancer Nursing’
Friday June 12th 2020 Farmleigh House Phoenix Park
The World Health Assembly has designated 2020 as the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife. Nurses and midwives play a vital role in providing health services. We are the people who devote our lives to caring for mothers and children; giving lifesaving immunisations and health advice; looking after older people and generally meeting everyday essential health needs. We are often, the first and only point of care in our communities.
The National Cancer Control Programme in collaboration with the Office for Nursing and Midwifery Services Directorate is delighted to announce that they will be marking this by celebrating cancer nurses contribution to cancer care in Ireland. It will take place in Farmleigh House, Phoenix Park, on Friday June 12th 2020. It will be an exciting and innovative event to celebrate and recognise the outstanding work of cancer nurses nationwide. We are delighted to inform you that in conjunction with a partner cancer hospital in the UK, we will be presenting four cancer nurses with the opportunity to travel to London for a 3 day tailored clinical placement .
Details on registration and the open competition for a position to go on the UK placement will be available in March 2020.
The winners will be announced in Farmleigh by TV Broadcaster Miriam O’ Callaghan.
