The Irish Association for Nurses in Oncology is an non-profit organisation that promotes continuing nurse education and provides a forum for exchange of knowledge for members of the oncology nursing profession.

Our members are nurses working in both a specialist and non-specialist capacity. They work in hospitals, in the community, in education and in administration.

As an Association we are conscious that patients with cancer are being cared for in most wards in every general hospital, in institutions for the elderly and the general community. The educational and support of nurses working in these particular environments is crucial.

Primary Palliative Care in Ireland Report 

This report on Primary Palliative Care in Ireland was launched in November 2011 which recommends a series of measures to be adopted to enhance the ability of all community based health care professionals in particular GPs and Community Nurses, to deliver quality care to people with life limiting progressive disease.

TARGET Course of EGFR  inhibitors in the treatment of cancer

The IANO and EONS have developed an exciting and challenging course on Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) inhibitors e.g. Iressa, Erbitux and Tarceva, for nurses working in oncology. 

Entry to this course is free for IANO members, but is dependent on an application process. The course is part sponsored by an educational grant from Amgen and Merck Ireland   [ More ]
